No photos for this tackle. Today has been an ENTIRE DAY full of tackles and the last thing I had the time, or presence of mind, to do was grab a camera.
Tackle #1: Laundry Room Break In
Had a tenant alert me this morning that it looked like someone had broken into one of the dryers and stolen all the quarters. Sure enough, not only did they pick the lock and take the quarters, but the ENTIRE collection bin as well. I mean, c'mon.....If you're gonna steal money from us, at least leave us the part to put the dryer back together! Anyway, I knew we had some random spare parts in the storage room and did some digging to see what I could find. After much searching, I eventually found another collection bin and matching key to use. It's a bit tricky and hard to open, but it works, and solved the problem for now. All in all, the theives got away with about $40-$60 bucks in quarters...seems pretty lame to me.
Tackle #2: Car Battery
In the midst of running many errands today I noticed my car wasn't starting right. Like....almost didn't start at all. My car is now over 5 years old and still running on the original battery, so I had a feeling that this was the culprit. I drove my car to a nearby auto shop and sure enough, my battery was getting close to going out. Since the LAST thing I want is to have a dead battery when I'm on my way to work in the morning, I decided to replace it. When the man saw how lost I looked when it came to replacing it, he sent someone out to do it for free :)
Tackle #3: Sewage Backup
I've been working on doing some renovations in my bathroom (saving this for another tackle!) and while I was working, my toilet started making a weird gurgling noise. I tried giving it a flush and it overflowed right on to the floor! I looked outside and saw the main sewage access line was leaking into the front yard, and that our laundry room was flooding. Awesome. Our usual plumber wasn't answering his phone so I had to find another one quickly. Fortunately, he was there within half an hour and fixed the issue for $100 bucks. Not bad for a clogged sewage line! Ick!
Tackle #4: Bathroom Leak
At some point during the bathroom renovation, a screw fell down the sink drain and punctured the p trap. I was going to call a plumber, but after talking to a few people I felt encouraged enough to attempt to fix it myself. Fortunately I was able to find a pipe wrench in the storage room and only needed to go to the store for a new p trap. Unfortunately, I still wasn't able to fix it myself since we have very old plumbing that does not fit standard pieces. Still ended up having to call the plumber...although I am proud of myself that I tried.
None of this is including the other errands I ran and work I did throughout the day. All these problems were neatly sprinkled in between, which left me no time to accomplish all the goals I had set out for myself today. Needless to say, I'm happy this day is coming to a close!

I'm impressed, I think most of those would have left me feeling helpless lol. Granted, I was able to change my own tire a couple weeks ago, but usually I end up just letting Ricky do all that stuff lol
